San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs ran Clean+Inspect for 90 days as the arena reopened to the public, then signed a contract to take it facility-wide — locker rooms, suites, fan seating, back of house and offices.
A 90-day trial, then the whole building.
The AT&T Center is an indoor arena in San Antonio, Texas, home to the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs. It seats approximately 19,000 for concerts and games and includes around 50 luxury suites.
The Spurs approached TRAX Analytics to evaluate whether technology could support their cleaning operation as the arena began opening back up to the public. They ran an initial 90-day trial of the Clean+Inspect mobile app tied to the TRAX platform, with Bluetooth proximity beacons added.
The trial went well enough that the Spurs signed a contract to expand the system facility-wide. That is the whole argument of this page: the decision was made on evidence the Spurs generated themselves.
The Challenge
Reopening to the public changed the question from whether the building was clean to whether the Spurs could show it. A 19,000-seat arena turns over completely between events, and the standard has to hold in a locker room, a luxury suite, a public restroom and a back-of-house corridor — spaces with almost nothing else in common.
The Spurs approached the question as an evaluation rather than a purchase. The system ran in their building, on their events, for 90 days before any facility-wide commitment was made.
The Solution
The 90-day trial paired the Clean+Inspect mobile app and the TRAX platform with Bluetooth proximity
beacons. When it proved out, the Spurs expanded the deployment across the facility.
The facility management team uses Clean+Inspect to schedule labor and tasks, capture proof of service
through real-time time and date stamps of cleanings, and run quality control inspections facility-wide. It
covers locker rooms, restrooms, suites, fan seating areas, back of house and office spaces on one
standard.
The TRAX Client Success team meets with the Spurs quarterly to review the data collected, work through
KPIs, and identify areas for improvement. The Spurs plan to add sensors to build a hybrid cleaning model
— part schedule-based, part demand-based.
What TRAX deployed
- An initial 90-day trial of the Clean+Inspect mobile app tied to the TRAX platform
- Bluetooth proximity beacons for proof of service
- Facility-wide expansion following the trial
- Labor and task scheduling for the facility management team
- Real-time time and date stamped proof of service for completed cleanings
- Quality control inspections across locker rooms, restrooms, suites, fan seating, back of house and offices
- Quarterly TRAX Client Success reviews of data, KPIs and improvement areas
The Benefits
- A facility-wide commitment made on 90 days of the Spurs' own data
- One cleaning and inspection standard across spaces as different as a locker room and a luxury suite
- Proof of service time-stamped as it happens, available when someone asks what was cleaned and when
- Labor and tasks scheduled in the same place the work is recorded
- A quarterly review rhythm that keeps KPIs live rather than annual
The Spurs moved from a 90-day trial to a facility-wide contract, delivered in 60 days from project start
in November 2021. TRAX Client Success meets with the Spurs quarterly, and the Spurs plan to add
sensors to create a hybrid cleaning model combining schedule-based and demand-based cleaning.
